Cavco Machine Tool Rebuilding repairs CNC machines where they stand, mechanical and electrical. What does Cavco fix on a CNC machine?
The whole machine. Most CNC service is electrical because that is where the alarms are. Most lost accuracy is mechanical because that is where the wear is. One crew that does both means one visit, one diagnosis, and no argument between two vendors about whose fault it is.
- Re-square, realign, and level the axes against each other. Replace what bent. You get the numbers.
- Servo and spindle drives, motors, encoders, control faults, PLCs, and wiring. Fanuc and Allen-Bradley most often. Retrofits when the machine is worth it.
- Scored, worn, or loaded ways. Way liners in Turcite, Moglice, or Rulon. Way grinding in place, so the machine stays on your floor.
- Runout, heat, noise. We tell you whether it is the cartridge or the geometry around it, pull and install the cartridge, and put the machine back true.
- Backlash and lost position. Replacement screws installed, preloaded, and aligned to the ways, not just bolted in.
- Leaks, pressure, starved ways, telescoping covers. The small jobs that stop a machine.
- Rotary accuracy, clamping, and drive faults on the fourth axis and on dedicated tables.
- Move it, set it, level it, and prove it before the first part.
When the electronics are fine and the parts still come off wrong
A CNC machine is a control on top of iron. No board swap fixes worn ways, a ball screw with backlash, or a spindle that lost its alignment in a crash. We come to the machine, measure it against itself with lasers and electronic levels, tell you what we found, and fix it there. If it needs a complete rebuild, that happens at our shop, and we say so up front.

Questions we get
- Yes. When the electronics check out and the parts still come off wrong, the problem is in the iron. Worn or scored ways, a ball screw with backlash, a spindle with runout, or geometry lost after a crash. We find which one and fix it at your plant.
- Yes. Drives, servo and spindle motors, encoders, control faults, PLCs, and wiring. About one job in six on our books is electrical or controls work, most of it on Fanuc and Allen-Bradley equipment, and much of it comes bundled with a mechanical repair on the same visit.
- Yes, when the machine is worth it. We have retrofitted controls and drives on machines whose iron was sound, and we will tell you plainly when a retrofit is not the right money. The mechanical rebuild that goes with it is our specialty.
- Usually, and it is often the job that saves the machine. A crash moves things. We measure the axes against each other with lasers and electronic levels, re-square and realign, replace what bent, and give you the numbers when we leave.
- Both. Repairs and realignments happen on your floor. A complete rebuild happens at our shop in Connecticut. Way grinding, which normally means sending the machine out, we do in place with a proprietary process, so the machine stays where it is.
